How to keep yourself even more accountable for your New Years Resolutions

11 Jan , 2014

It’s past that time of year where people are heard far and wide claiming they’ve turned a new leaf, it’s called their new years resolutions, and let’s face it, we all know deep down that they are a waste of time because it’s just another way to create an excuse for not doing something.

But does it have to be?

Perhaps all you need is for a few simple ways to help keep you accountable, that’s how you succeed. You see, the most successful people on the planet will do things and hold themselves accountable quite easily. They have a strength and force of will power that has elevated them beyond most of us mere mortals.

However, we can still get others to help us out and use other techniques and succeed in our own little ways and I think it all comes down to accountability.

Here’s a few ways which might help you stay accountable to your new years resolutions:

  1. Keeping a video log – find a way to record yourself (hint hint) and your progress in a video journal and you can choose to make your new years resolutions stick. You might even be able to share them with a few select individuals and ask them to keep you accountable.
  2. Publish them in a blog – why not write them down and post all of them onto your own blog and then get the general public to hold you accountable?
  3. Print them off and stick them on your wall – so that everyone in your house, or visiting your house can see. They’ll ask you about it, remind you and ultimately hold you to your resolutions.
  4. Be social – talk about it all over your social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Keep it up to date and report back to your social media friends and soon they will become engaged to your success. Report failures as well as success!

It’s quite scary to get others to keep you accountable. When a resolution becomes public or recorded, it feels much more realistic and certain.

One thing is for sure, if you are serious about your resolutions, then doing any one of these accountability practices will help you to achieve your goals.
